Today is German violin virtuoso Julia Fischer's 38th birthday!
She performs and records regularly with the world’s eminent conductors and orchestras. As a chamber musician and teacher, Fischer is also an accomplished concert pianist. In 2008, when she was performing around 90 concerts a year as a violinist, Fisher made a notable debut as a pianist — playing Saint-Saëns' Violin Concerto No. 3 and Grieg's Piano Concerto as a soloist with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie on the same concert.
She currently performs on a 1742 Guadagnini violin as well as a modern instrument made by Phillipp Augustin.
