OUT NOW | Violinist Vadim Gluzman's New CD: "Beethoven, Schnittke No. 3"
The disc features Beethoven's Violin Concerto and Schnittke's 3rd Violin Concerto with conductor James Gaffigan and the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester
BIS Records announced the release of violinist Vadim Gluzman's new album entitled "Beethoven, Schnittke No. 3."
"The discovery of the Cadenzas by Alfred Schnittke for the Beethoven Violin Concerto was undoubtedly the starting point of this project," Vadim told The Violin Channel.
"They truly are a singular artistic statement, one that connects styles and epochs by building a symbolic time-bridge. Time travel has been a fascination of mine since my early teen years and there is no better way to travel in time than music!
"There is a lyricism and perfect structure of undoubtedly one of the greatest masterworks ever written for violin, the Beethoven Concerto. Schnittke's imaginative and bold cadenzas quote, in succession, Johannes Brahms, Bela Bartok, Alben Berg, Dmitri Shostakovich. The disc then features Concerto No.3 by Alfred Schnittke, a uniquely powerful work. This is a very special and meaningful recording for me and I hope it will be for my listeners as well!"
