It has been announced this week that a new ballet based on the life of legendary cellist Jacqueline Du Pre is set to open in London in 2020.
To be produced by The Royal Ballet, with choreography by Cathy Marston and score by Philip Feeney, the new ballet will run at the Royal Opera House from 17th of February to 4th of March, 2020.
Royal Ballet Artistic Director Kevin O'Hare has indicated the score will also feature extracts from works associated with the late-cellist, including the Elgar Cello Concerto - with the music to be performed by members in the orchestra pit rather than dancers onstage.
“No, nobody in a blond wig playing the cello,” he has said.
