American violist Laura Bruton has passed away - following a lengthy battle with cancer

American violist Laura Bruton has passed away - following a lengthy battle with cancer.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and the St. Louis Conservatory, Laura had served a Principal Violist with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, in Forth Worth, Texas, United States since 1988.

"Laura was an integral part of our orchestra, having been a part of the ensemble as it grew from a chamber orchestra to the major symphony orchestra it is today ..." her Forth Worth colleagues have today said in a statement.

"She was a no-nonsense leader, but she was also a source of great wisdom and humor ... mostly we will remember her for her beautiful playing - and her never-ending spirit," they have said.
