Zoltan Almashi's "Maria's city" (Version for Two Cellos)
The piece will be programmed in the opening concert of New York's Ukrainian Contemporary Music Festival
The Ukrainian Contemporary Music Festival is set to return for its fifth-anniversary season in New York from March 28 - 30 at the DiMenna Center. The festival will feature world premiere performances of works by Virko Baley, Mykhailo Chedryk, and Olga Zaitseva-Herz, as well as the North American premieres of six other works.
The opening concert, on Thursday, March 28 at 7 PM (ET) is titled, "Defense - Defiance - Dedication" and will show how Ukrainian music has taken on new purposes since the start of Russia’s current war against Ukraine.
The concert will feature Zoltan Almashi's "Maria's City" arranged for two cellos. This piece is dedicated to Mariupol, the Ukrainian city that has been greatly affected by Russian forces.

Tickets for the DiMenna Center concerts are $25 each, or $60 for all three concerts. Students can purchase $10 tickets. All tickets are available through Eventbrite.
