YoungArts Names Nominees for 2024 U. S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts
Classical musicians make up ten of the sixty young students nominated for this honor
YoungArts, the National Foundation for the Advancement of Artists, has recently named the 60 young people who have been nominated for its prestigious honor of Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Hailing from 19 states, these young artists were selected following National YoungArts Week, an event that included classes and workshops with leading artists in their fields.
The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars will review the application of each student and will ultimately select 20 students to be Presidential Scholars in the Arts. The panel will assess academic and artistic accomplishments, demonstrated leadership, community service and outreach initiatives, and overall creativity.
10 classical musicians were named on the list. They are as follows:
- Iris Hur
- Amy Jong
- Hayden Joyce
- Ethan Kasparian Weisman
- Saehyun Kim
- Jisang Kymm
- Bobby Park
- Isaiah Saranow
- Nicholas Hyunkun Yoo
- Harmony Zhu
"It is a true honor for YoungArts to nominate these 60 brilliant artists to the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars," said YoungArts President Clive Chang. "These artists navigate and confront our rapidly changing world with keen intellect and an admirable sense of joy and curiosity. We all look forward to supporting them as they grow and evolve in their artistic journeys."
