17 Year Old Yiming Liu Awarded Senior 1st Prize at China’s Zhuhai Mozart Competition

17 year old Yiming Liu has been awarded 1st prize in the Group C (17 to 23 Years) category at the 2017 Zhuhai International Mozart Competition

17 year old Yiming Liu, from China, has been awarded 1st prize in the Group C (17 to 23 Years Old) category at the 2017 2nd Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians – in Zhuhai, China.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 19 year old Yiying Jiang from China – and 23 year old Oleksandr Korniev from Ukraine.

A current student of the competiton's 2017 Artistic Director and jury member Paul Roczek at the University of Mozarteum Salzburg, Yiming is a former prize winner at the Spohr and Kloster Schontal International Violin Competitions.

She will receive US $30,000.

The prize for the 'Best Performance of a Capriccio work' in the Group C Semi-Final stage was awarded to Jiang Yiying.

This year’s competition, presented by the University of Mozarteum Salzburg, is held in 3 age categories: Group A (12 Years and Under), Group B (13 to 16 Years Old) and Group C (17 to 23 Years Old).

The 2017 jury comprises: Paul Roczek (Artistic Director), Friedemann Eichhorn (Jury Chair), Shmuel Ashkenasi, Harald Eggebrecht, Ani Schnarch, Akiko Tatsumi, Weidong Tong and Lina Yu.
