Winners Announced at the NOMEA Competition

 

NOMEA organizes international competitions and festivals both live and online, referred to as one of "the best Italian innovative projects of 2020." This year, they hosted the International Online Violin Edition.

Violinist Angela Sing Yin Chan took home first prize in its 16 to 35-year-old category. A student of Donald Weilerstein at New England Conservatory and former student of Shmuel Ashkenasi, Pamela Frank, and Aaron Rosand at the Curtis Institute, Angela is a former top prize winner at the Louis Spohr and Harbin International Violin Competitions. With this most recent award from NOMEA, she will receive €4000 as well as a number of performance and career advancement opportunities.

The second and third prizes in the 16 to 35-year-old category were awarded to Olga Volkova from Russia and Jane Hyeon Jin Cho from South Korea.

Lora Markova from Bulgaria was awarded first prize in the 17-20-year-old category. The second and third prizes were awarded to Masha Lakisova from the United States and Katharina Auer from Austria.

Boryana Zheleva from Bulgaria and Minjae Kim from the United States were awarded joint first prize in the 14 to 16-year-old category. The second and third prizes were awarded to Katelyn Moon from the United States and Skylar Peck from the United States/South Korea.

William Yeh from Taiwan was awarded first prize in the 11 to 13-year-old category. The second and third prizes were awarded to Małzorgata Błazik from Poland and Oriana Wojciechowska from Poland.

Kexin Chang from China was awarded first prize in the 7 to 10-year-old category. The second and third prizes were awarded to Giselle Zi Qi Ang from Singapore and Jayda Lu from Australia.

Chanoch Pillersdorf from Israel was awarded first prize in the 6-year-old and under category. The second and third prizes were awarded to Dilshad Farhadzade from Azerbaijan and Kaisao Chou from the United States.

The 2022 jury comprised: Alexey Bogorad, Emily Sun, Carles Lama, Mark Messenger, and Luciano Ruotolo.
