24-year-old VC Young Artist Timothy Chooi from Canada [PICTURED] was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition – in Hannover, Germany.

2nd prize was awarded to 19-year-old Dmytro Udovychenko from Ukraine and 3rd prize awarded to 21-year-old Cosima Soulez Larivière from France/Holland.

4th, 5th and 6th prizes were awarded to 19-year-old VC Young Artist Rennosuke Fukuda from Japan, 21-year-old Leonard Fu from Germany and 22-year-old Youjin Lee from South Korea.

18-year-old VC Young Artist Diana Adamyan from Armenia was awarded 1st prize in the Senior Division of the 2018 Menuhin Competition – in Geneva, Switzerland.

2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes were awarded to 20-year-old Nathan Mierdl from France/Germany, 20-year-old HyunJae Lim from South Korea and 17-year-old Tianyou Ma from China.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 17-year-old VC Young Artist Risa Hokamura from Japan and 28-year-old VC Young Artist Luke Hsu from United States.

4th, 5th and 6th prizes were awarded to 23-year-old Anna Lee from United States, 25-year-old VC Young Artist Ioana Cristina Goicea from Romania and 26-year-old Shannon Lee from United States/Canada.

18-year-old Hae-Sue Lee from South Korea was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 15th Primrose International Viola Competition – at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, United States.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 28-year-old Zoe Martin-Doike from the United States and 22 year old Leonid Plashinov-Johnson from the United Kingdom.

 

18-year-old South Korean violinist Donghyun Kim was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Seoul International Violin Competition – in Seoul, South Korea.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to Youjin Lee and Jeein Kim from South Korea.

4th, 5th and 6th prizes were awarded to June Jeong and YooJin Lee from South Korea and Alexandra Tirsu from Romania/Moldova.

23-year-old VC Young Artist Brannon Cho from the United States was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Paulo International Cello Competition – in Helsinki, Finland.

Joint-2nd prize was awarded to 19-year-old VC Young Artist Zlatomir Fung from United States and 23-year-old Minji Kim from South Korea.

Joint-4th prize was awarded to 24-year-old Timotheos Petrin from Greece, 19-year-old Leonardo Chiodo from Finland and 21-year-old Bryan Cheng from Canada.

Five 1st prizes were awarded at the 2018 Young Concert Artists International Auditions – in New York City.

The 2018 YCA 1st prize winners were: 22-year-old American violinist Randall Goosby, 17-year-old Japanese violinist VC Young Artist Risa Hokamura, 15-year-old American pianist Maxim Lando, 22-year-old Chinese pianist Aristo Sham - and 21-year-old Danish/American cellist Jonathan Swensen.

 

Astral Artists announced four 1st prize winners at the 2018 National Auditions – in Philadelphia, United States.

This 2018 winners were: 26-year-old American violinist Hannah Tarley, the Vera String Quartet, 27-year-old Polish flutist Antonina Styczeń and 25-year-old American french hornist Eric Huckins.

 

The Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT), in London, named three 1st prize winners – 25-year-old violinist Jonian-Ilias Kadesha from Albania/Greece, 26-year-old pianist Giuseppe Guarrera from Italy and 26-year-old recorder player Tabea Debus from Germany.

 

22-year-old Chinese pianist Yinuo Wang was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition – in New York.

2018 finalists, 26-year-old Russian percussionist Dmitrii Nilov and the “not classical … but not not classical” string ensemble Invoke, were also invited to join the CAG Roster.

 

32-year-old Grace Park from the United States was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Naumburg International Violin Competition – in New York City.

2nd and 3rd prizes was awarded to Shannon Lee from the United States and Danbi Um from South Korea.

16-year-old Masha Lakisova from the United States was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 inaugural Tibor Junior International Violin Competition – in Sion, Switzerland.

2nd prize was awarded to 17-year-old Iris Scialom from France.

Joint 3rd prizes were awarded to 16-year-old Arthur Traelnes from Switzerland and 17-year-old Qingzhu Weng from China.

 

10-year-old Natsuho Murata from Japan was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 il Piccolo Violino Magico International Competition - in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy.

The Cleveland Institute of Music-based Callisto String Quartet was awarded 1st prize in the Senior String Division and the competition’s Grand Prize at the 45th Annual Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition – at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, United States.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to the Viano String Quartet and the Thalea String Quartet.

1st prize in the Junior Division of the 45th Annual Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition was awarded to the Chicago-based Kairos String Quartet.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to the Razumovsky Quartet and the Geneva String Quartet.

 

The New York-based Aizuri Quartet was awarded the US $100,000 Grand Prize at the 2018 M-Prize Chamber Music Competition – in Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States.

2nd and 3rd prizes in the Senior Strings category were awarded to the VC Artists Verona Quartet and the Vera Quartet.

The Chicago-based Kairos Quartet was awarded the US $5,000 1st prize in the Junior Strings category.

3rd prize was awarded to 27-year-old Julia Turnovsky from Austria.

 

16-year-old American violinist Alex Zhou was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 33rd Irving M. Klein International String Competition – in San Francisco, USA.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 17-year-old violinist Julian Rhee and 19-year-old violinist Isabelle Ai Durrenberger.

Joint 4th prize was awarded to 22-year-old cellist Jean Kim and 16-year-old violinist Sophia Su.

 

Sara Dragan from Poland and Raquel Areal Martinez from Spain were awarded joint-1st Prize in the Senior Division of the 2018 Lipinski and Wieniawski International Competition for Young Violinists – in Lubin, Poland.

2nd prize was awarded to Eduard Kollert from Poland.

Joint-3rd prize was awarded to Michael Orlik from Poland and Goto Ko from Japan.

Joint-4th prize was awarded to Laura-Katharina Handler from Germany, Julian Walder from Austria and Marta Grygier from Poland.

22-year-old Yuliia Van from Ukraine and 24-year-old Roman Kholmatov from Ukraine were awarded joint-1st prize at the 2018 Mirecourt International Violin Competition – in Mirecourt, France.

3rd and 4th prizes were awarded at 17-year-old Claire Wells from the United States and 17-year-old Iris Scialom from France.

 

24-year-old VC Young Artist Timothy Chooi from Canada has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Schadt String Competition – in Allentown, United States.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to violinists Ania Filochowska and Hannah Cho.

 

Polish accordionist Iwo Jedynecki and pianist Aleksander Krzyżanowski were awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Art of the Duo’ Boulder International Chamber Music Competition –  in Boulder, Colorado.

Joint 2nd prize was awarded to violinist YuEun Kim and pianist Sung Chang – and violist Matthew Cohen and pianist Zhenni Li from China.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to Sofia Demetriades from England and Maximus Chia from Singapore.

1st Prize in the 12-16 year old category was awarded to Michael Germer from Denmark.

25-year-old Milan Al-Ashhab from the Czech Republic was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition – in Vienna, Austria.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 18-year-old Alice Lee from Canada and 18-year-old Paul Kropfitsch from Austria.

4th, 5th, and 6th prizes were awarded to 28-year-old Soo-Hyun Park from South Korea, 25-year-old Natsumi Tsuboi from Japan and 15-year-old Rino Yoshimoto from Japan.

 

26-year-old Maria Wloszczowska, from Poland, was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Bach International Violin Competition – in Leipzig, Germany.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 25-year-old Maia Cabeza from the United States/Canada and 28-year-old Hed Yaron Meyerson from Germany/Israel.

 

15-year-old VC Rising Star Maria Dueñas from Spain was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 2nd Vladimir Spivakov International Violin Competition – in Ufa, Russia.

2nd prize was awarded to 25-year-old Fyodor Beznosikov from Russia.

3rd prize was awarded to 22-year-old Issei Kurihara from Japan.

 

18-year-old Italian violinist Vikram Sedona has been awarded 2nd prize at the 2018 George Enescu International Violin Competition – in Bucharest, Romania.

3rd prize was presented to 17-year-old Italian violinist Giuseppe Gibboni.

No 1st prize was awarded at this year's competition.

 

23-year-old Marcel Johannes Kits from Estonia was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 George Enescu International Cello Competition – in Bucharest, Romania.

2nd prize was awarded to 17-year-old Yibai Chen from China.

3rd and 4th prizes were awarded to 25-year-old Stanislas Kim from France and 26-year-old Shizuka Mitsui from Japan.

 

15-year-old violinist Charlotte Marckx from the United States was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Stulberg International String Competition – at the Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

23-year-old violinist Eva Zavaro from France was awarded 1st prize in the Violin Division of the 2018 Johannes Brahms International Music Competition – in Pörtschach, Austria.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 18-year-old violinist Maine Nishiyama from Japan – and 27 year old violinist Julia Turnovsky from Austria.

18-year-old Luca Giovannini from Italy and 31-year-old Alexey Zhilin from Russia were awarded joint-1st prize in this year’s cello division.

3rd prize was awarded to 22-year-old cellist Sul Yoon from South Korea.

In the 2018 Chamber Music division, the Duo Maestro, comprising cellist Alexey Zhilin and pianist Andrey Baranenko, were awarded 1st prize.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to the Arcon Trio and Atalante Quartet.

 

22-year-old Venezuelan violinist Ruben Rengel was awarded the $50,000 Senior 1st Prize at the 2018 21st Annual Sphinx Competition - in Detroit, United States.

The Berlin-based Trio Marvin was awarded 1st prize in the Trio division, plus the 2018 Grand Prize, at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition – in Melbourne, Australia.

1st prize in the String Quartet division was awarded to the Goldmund Quartet from Germany.

2nd and 3rd prizes in the Trio division were awarded to the Trio Gaon and the Amatis Piano Trio.

2nd and 3rd prizes in the String Quartet division were awarded to the Eliot Quartett and the Callisto Quartet.

 

19-year-old Japanese cellist Haruma Sato was awarded 1st prize the 2018 Lutosławski International Cello Competition – in Warsaw, Poland.

The Ohio-based DAJJ Quartet was awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Saint Paul String Quartet Competition – in Minnesota, United States.

18-year-old South Korean-Canadian cellist Grace Sohn and 25-year-old Czech cellist Kristina Vocetková were awarded joint 1st prize at the 2018 Anton Rubinstein International Cello Competition, in Berlin, Germany.

Joint 2nd prizes were awarded to 27-year-old South Korean cellist Yoosin Park and 23-year-old Israeli cellist Haran Meltzer.

Joint 3rd prizes were awarded to 27-year-old British cellist Ariana Kashefi and 27-year-old South Korean cellist Yoonhye Chung.

4th, 5th and 6th prizes were awarded to Joshua Petersen from Germany, Anton Spronk from the Netherlands and Beata Antikainen from Finland.

 

Japanese violists Kei Ito and Momoko Aritomi were awarded joint 2nd prize at the 2018 Anton Rubinstein International Viola Competition, in Düsseldorf, Germany.

3rd prize was awarded to violist Haeun Park from South Korea.

No 1st prize was awarded at this year's competition.

 

17-year-old Inés Issel Burzyńska from Poland/Spain was awarded the Grand Prize at the 2018 Georg Philipp Telemann International Violin Competition - in Poznan, Poland.

Three joint-1st prizes were awarded at the 2018 46th Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Competition – at Vassar College, in Poughkeepsie, USA.

In an unprecedented jury decision, all three finalists, violinists Ania Filochowska, Max Tan and Choi Tung Yeung, were awarded joint-top prize.

 

American violin virtuoso Leila Josefowicz was announced as the 2018 recipient of the prestigious US $100,000 Avery Fisher Prize – in recognition of outstanding achievement and excellence in music.

 

25-year-old VC Young Artist Ioana Cristina Goicea from Romania was announced as one of six 1st prize recipients at the 2018 German Music Competition – in Bonn, Germany.
