VC ARTIST | Timothy Ridout, 25 - Tertis & Aronowitz International Viola Comp 1st Prizes

25-year-old British violist, Timothy Ridout, is quickly building an international reputation as one of the new generation's most outstanding young string virtuosi

A graduate of London’s Royal Academy of Music and the Kronberg Academy, where he studied with Martin Outram and Nobuko Imai, Timothy is a former 1st prize winner at the Lionel Tertis and Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competitions and he was recently named as a 2019 BBC New Generation Artist and awarded the prestigious Thierry Scherz Prize at the Gstaad Festival Sommets Musicaux.

He will join the Bowers Program of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center this upcoming year.

His recent solo engagements include performances with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Baden-Baden Philharmonie, Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, London Mozart Players and Sinfonia Cymru, Zagreb Soloists, Rotterdam Philharmonic Strings, Young Musicians Symphony and the Birmingham Conservatoire Orchestra.

Timothy currently performs on a 1565 Pergerino di Zanetto viola, on generous loan from the Beares International Violin Society.

He currently has general management representation by Harrison Parrot, in London.
