VC ARTIST | Violin Virtuoso Augustin Hadelich — "The Musician's Musician"
Described by colleagues as "the musician's musician," Italian-born German-American violinist Augustin Hadelich is a recipient of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship, and the 2015 Warner Music Prize.
A graduate of The Juilliard School, Augustin is a former first prize winner at the Indianapolis International Violin Competition.
In 2016, he was awarded the Grammy Award for the "Best Classical Instrumental Solo," for his recording of Dutilleux’s Violin Concerto with Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony Orchestra — and he was honored by Musical America as the 2018 "Instrumentalist of the Year."
Augustin's recent release on Warner Classics, "Bach Sonatas & Partitas," has been nominated for the 2022 Grammy Awards.
Highlights this season include solo engagements with the San Francisco Symphony, New York Philharmonic, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Prague Radio Symphony Warsaw Philharmonic, Danish National Orchestra, Finnish Radio Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Mozarteumorchester (Salzburg), Munich Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic, St. Louis Symphony, and WDR Orchestra as well as his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic.
Augustin currently performs on the 1744 "Leduc, ex-Szeryng" Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù — generously loaned by a patron through the Tarisio Trust.
Augustin will open the second season of The Violin Channel Vanguard Concerts this year.
