BREAKING | Simon Zhu Awarded 1st Prize at China's Zhuhai Mozart Competition

18-year-old Simon Zhu from Germany has been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians

18-year-old Simon Zhu from Germany has just minutes ago been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians – in Zhuhai, China.

Presented by the University of Mozarteum Salzburg, Simon will receive US $30,000.

A student of Professors Koh Gabriel Kameda and Tomasz Tomaszewski, Simon is a former 1st prize winner at the Kloster Schöntal and Valsesia Musica International Violin Competitions.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 18-year-old Elli Choi from the United States and - 21-year-old Yiying Jiang from China.

YINGYING JIANG | PAGANINI | SOLO CAPRICE NO. 10 | 2019 ZHUHAI INTERNATIONAL MOZART COMPETITION FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS | 21-YEARS-OLD | 17 TO 23 YEARS OLD AGE CATEGORY 3RD PRIZE WINNER

 

12-year-old Jinan Woo from South Korea was awarded 1st prize in the 12 Years and Under Category.

2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes in the 12 Years and Under Age Category were awarded to 10-year-old Shaoheng Zhong from China, 11-year-old Zhang Aozhe from China – and 11-year-old Junyang Zhu from China.

14-year-old Lina Nakano from Japan was awarded 1st prize in the 13 to 16 Year Old Age Category.

2nd and 3rd prizes in the 13 to 16 Year Old Age Category was awarded to 15-year-old Wong Pui Ying from Hong Kong/China – and 13-year-old Wu Muyang from China.     

The 2019 violin jury comprised: Paul Roczek (Artistic Director), Julius Berger (Chairman), Lewis Kaplan, Boris Kuschnir, Michael Ma, Silvia Marcovici, Qian Zhou and Weidong Tong.
