Australian violinist Richard Pollett tragically died in a cycling accident on this day in 2011 – aged 25.
A graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium and the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, Richard was a 3 time finalist in the ABC Symphony Australia 'Young Performer of the Year' awards.
The Richard Pollett Memorial Foundation has been established by Richard's family and friends, in association with the Australian Youth Orchestra, to honour his memory – with bursaries made annually to provide support and encouragement for talented young Australian musicians.
