Violinist Misha Vayman Joins Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra
A recent graduate from the USC Thornton School of Music, Vayman also plays in Delirium Musicum and the Benefic Piano Trio
The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) recently named violinist Misha Vayman as its newest member.
A recent graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music, Vayman also studied at the Colburn School and the Cleveland Institute of Music. He is a member of the band Astral Mixtape, which performs across a variety of genres; as part of this group, Vayman has appeared in multiple international festivals and has completed a residency at the BANFF Centre for the Arts.
He is the violinist of the Benefic Piano Trio, who has won the international ENKOR competition and recorded a disc of works by Daniel Carr on the MSR Classics label. Vayman is also a member of Delirium Musicum, a dynamic self-conducted chamber orchestra based in Los Angeles. Led by Etienne Gara, the group released its debut album on the Warner Classics label in April 2023.
Also joining LACO is flutist Benjamin Smolen, who comes to the role from a position as principal flute of the Pacific Symphony. He has played as guest principal flute for orchestras such as the LA Philharmonic and the San Diego Symphony.
"I’m so excited to join LACO in the fall and so thankful to all the people who were so kind and patient with me leading up to the audition!" Vayman wrote on social media. "I can’t wait!"
