Prizes Awarded at Berlin's Ton & Erklärung International Violin Competition

22-year-old Leonard Fu has been awarded 1st prize at the 2020 Ton & Erklärung International Violin Competition

22-year-old Leonard Fu from Germany has this week been awarded 1st prize at the 2020 Ton & Erklärung International Violin Competition - in Berlin, Germany.

A current student of Donald Weilerstein at the New England Conservatory, Leonard is a former prize winner at the Postacchini, Rodolfo Lipizer, TONALi and Joseph Joachim International Violin Competitions.

He will receive €10,000 - plus a number of important performance opportunities.

2nd prize was awarded to 18-year-old Qingzhu Weng from China.

A special prize was awarded to Elias David Moncado from Germany.

The 2020 jury comprised: Andrej Bielow (Chairman), Ulrich Edelmann, Harald Eggebrecht, Christian Kuhnt, Franziska Nentwig and Tianwa Yang.
