Today is Israeli violin virtuoso Ivry Gitlis’ 98th birthday!

A student of Carl Flesch, George Enescu and Jacques Thibaud, Mr Gitlis is widely respected as one of the pre-eminent violinists of the 20th Century.

He currently performs on the the 1713 ‘Sancy’ Stradivarius.
