Acclaimed as "Paganini reincarnated" or "Paganini without the flaws," Sivori was regarded as the only pupil of violinist Niccolò Paganini
A virtuoso violinist and composer, Camillo Sivori was born on this day in 1815 in Genoa.
Sivori met Paganini when he was seven years old and began his career as a violin virtuoso at the age of 12.
Upon finding favor Sivori, Paganini gifted him with the Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume "Il Cannone" violin, which was a replica of his own violin by Bartolomeo Guarneri del Gesù.
Also a talented composer, Sivori wrote 60 of his own works — including two violin concertos — that showcased impressive virtuosity and melodic prowess.
