Happy Birthday, VC Artist Blake Pouliot!
A graduate of the Colburn School, where he studied with Robert Lipsett, Blake is a former first prize winner at the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Manulife Strings Competition
Today is Canadian violinist, VC Artist Blake Pouliot’s 30th birthday!
Growing up in Toronto, Canada, Pouliot studied with Marie Berard and Erika Raum as a graduate of the RCM Taylor Academy. He then gained entry into the studio of Robert Lipsett at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles.
His 2023/24 symphonic highlights include Shostakovich 1, Bruch 1, Tchaikovsky, Korngold, and Sibelius concerti across the US and Canada, with Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and Roderick Cox, Artis-Naples and NAC Ottawa with Alexander Shelley, Quebec City Symphony with Clemens Schuldt amongst others.
Pouliot made his orchestral debut at the age of 11 and has since showcased his talents with orchestras in Aspen, Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas, Madison, Montreal, Toronto, San Francisco, and Seattle, among others. On the international stage, he has served as a soloist with the Sofia Philharmonic in Bulgaria, the Orchestras of the Americas during their South American tour, and as the featured soloist for the groundbreaking joint tour of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada.
Pouliot has collaborated with esteemed conductors including Sir Neville Marriner, David Afkham, Pablo Heras-Casado, David Danzmayr, JoAnn Falletta, Marcelo Lehninger, Nicholas McGegan, Alexander Prior, Vasily Petrenko, and Thomas Søndergård.
He currently performs on a 1729 Guarneri del Gesù, on generous loan from the Canada Council for the Arts Musical Instrument Bank.
