Prize Winners Announced at Berlin’s Max Rostal International Viola Competition
24-year-old German violist Tobias Reifland has been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Max Rostal International Viola Competition
24-year-old German violist Tobias Reifland has this week been awarded 1st prize at the 2019 Max Rostal International Viola Competition - in Berlin.
A student of Roland Glassl at the Munich University of Music, Tobias is a former top prize winner at the Hindemith, Anton Rubinstein and Brahms International Viola Competitions.
He will receive €7,000.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 20-year-old Sào Soulez Larivière from France/Holland - and 29-year-old Sangyoon Lee from South Korea.
4th place was awarded to 19-year-old Nicholas Algot Swensen from Denmark.
The 2019 jury comprised: Tomoko Akasaka, Sophia Jaffé, Walter Küssner, Roberto Diaz, David Geringas, Philippe Graffin, Pavel Vernikov, Hartmut Rohde and Hagai Shaham.
