Vienna Boys' Choir Facing Imminent Insolvency
The choir is likely to be insolvent by September 2020 due the devastating economic affects of the coronavirus pandemic
The Vienna Boys' Choir has this week announced that the ensemble is likely to be insolvent by September 2020, due to the devastating economic affects of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Recognized as one of the world's best known choirs for boy sopranos and altos, the non-profit organization is largely financed by their tours and concerts.
"The current crisis has badly affected the Vienna Boys Choir - both as a school and as artists ..." a spokesperson for the ensemble has this week said.
"We are a private NGO which does not receive any government subsidies or public funding and while the choirs cannot perform, we have no income ... we have had to cancel 113 performances so far, more are certain to follow."
