VC Artist Fedor Rudin Loaned 1712 “ex-Viotti” Stradivarius
The Russian-French violinist has been loaned the new violin by a Canadian company
VC Artist Fedor Rudin has returned his previous 1779 Storioni violin to the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben for future generations as he is loaned a new instrument.
He now plays, with a modern setup, the 1712 “ex-Viotti” violin made in Cremona by Antonio Stradivari, generously on loan from the CANIMEX INC. company of Drummondville (Québec), Canada.
Fedor has played the 1779 Storioni for the last 6 years, during which he won second prize at the Premio Paganini Violin Competition in 2018 and the concertmaster audition at the Wiener Staatsoper and Vienna Philharmonic in 2019.
“Although I will miss this violin greatly, I am very grateful to the Groupe Canimex for recently loaning me another incredible instrument,” Fedor posted on Facebook. “Additionally, I now own a fantastic copy of the 1779 Storioni, made in Paris in 2023 by the amazing Sylvain Tournaire!”
Recently, he performed on the 1712 “ex-Viotti” at the Schaumburger Schlosskonzerte with cellist Julia Hagen and pianist Boris Kusnezow at his first concert of 2024.
Fedor studied at the Salzburg Mozarteum University, Cologne High School of Music, and Graz University of Music and Performing Arts with Pierre Amoyal, Zakhar Bron, and Boris Kuschnir.
A former major prize winner at the Paganini, Enescu, and Marteau International Violin Competitions, he has performed with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, SWR Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de chambre de Paris, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and Deutsches Kammerorchester.
He currently works as a professor of orchestral education at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), where he was recently appointed.
