VC Artist Daniel Lozakovich Performs “Solveig’s Song” from Peer Gynt
This piece, played alongside pianist Mikhail Pletnev, is part of Daniel’s new album on Warner Classics to be released this August
In an exclusive signing with Warner Classics earlier this year, VC Artist Daniel Lozakovich’s debut recital album with the record label will be released on August 30, 2024.
The album will feature Daniel alongside pianist Mikhail Pletnev playing Franck’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, Grieg’s Violin Sonata No. 3 and “Solveig’s Song” from Peer Gynt, Shostakovich’s “Romance” from The Gadfly, and a Violin Sonata jointly composed by Pletnev and Alexi Shor.
“While very much a young player of today, he is an artist whose poetry and integrity place him in the great tradition of the 20th-century violinists who set the benchmarks for the recorded catalog,” said President of Warner Classics & Erato Alain Lanceron.
“My main goal in joining this legendary label is to have artistic freedom, create a musical world, and record works of immortal beauty with musicians I love," Daniel added. “For me, making music is a spiritual key to unlocking the truth of the soul.”
“[Daniel and Mikhail] evoke a sense of longing, tenderness, and eternal love in Grieg’s lyrical ‘Solveig’s Song’ from Peer Gynt,” reads the description of the music video, which can be viewed below.
Daniel studied at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe with Josef Rissin since 2012 and graduated with a Master’s degree in 2021. At the age of 15, he signed an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon, and in 2018, released his debut album of Bach’s two violin concertos together with the solo Partita No.2.
Among his many accolades include first prize at the 2016 Vladimir Spivakov International Violin Competition, the 2017 Young Artist of the Year award at the Festival of Nations, Mexico’s Premio Batuta Award, and the Excelentia Prize from the honorary presidency of Queen Sofia of Spain.
He made his debut appearance at the BBC Proms in the 2022/23 season, which also saw him perform with the Oslo Philharmonic, Filarmonica della Scala, and in further concerts with Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and on tour with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse.
