Hungarian violin virtuoso and pedagogue, Joseph Joachim died on this day in 1907.  He is remembered as one of the most significant violinists of the 19th Century. Joachim was the dedicatee of the Bruch, Brahms, Schumann and Dvorak Violin Concertos – and is credited with the revival in popularity of Bach's Solo Sonatas and Partitas and Beethoven's Violin Concerto. His noted students included Leopold Auer, Willy Burmester, Willy Hess, Bronisław Huberman, Franz von Vecsey and Jenő Hubay.
