Korean Soprano Sumi Hwang Wins Queen Elisabeth International Vocal Competition
Korean soprano Sumi Hwang has been awarded 1st prize at the 2014 Queen Elisabeth International Vocal Competition - in Brussels, Belgium.
A graduate of the National University of Seoul and the Munich Hochschule fur Musik und Theatre, Sumi will receive 25,000 Euros.
Rotating annually between piano, vocal and violin disciplines – the International Queen Elisabeth Prize is regarded as one of the most coveted accolades in classical music.
Previous Grand Prize winners include VC ‘Young Artists’ Ray Chen, Andrey Baranov & Sergey Khachatryan.
The 2015 Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition will hosted from the 4th to the 30th of May – and is open to violinists of any nationality, born before December 31st, 1984.
