Vienna Symphony Announces New 1st Concertmaster
The Vienna Symphony has announced the appointment of German violinist Sophie Heinrich as its new First Concertmaster
The Vienna Symphony Orchestra has today announced the appointment of 37-year-old German violinist Sophie Heinrich as its new First Concertmaster - effective from May 2019.
A graduate of the Stuttgart Music Academy, Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ and the Musikhochschule Lübec, Sophie currently serves as First Concertmaster of the Komische Oper Berlin.
"It’s a dream comes true … I am looking forward to Vienna … to the exciting new job with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, and especially to playing music together with my new colleagues and working with Philippe Jordan and Andrés Orozco-Estrada," Sophie has said.
She will replace violinist Florian Zwiauer - who is set to retire from the ensemble at the end of the current season.
