Winners Awarded at Denmark’s Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition
The Simply Quartet has been awarded 1st prize in the String Quartet Category at the 2019 Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition
The Simply Quartet from Austria has this week been awarded 1st prize in the String Quartet Category at the 2019 Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition – in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Comprising violinists Danfeng Shen and Antonia Rankersberge, violist Xiang Lyu and cellist Ivan Valentin Hollup Roald, the Simply Quartet are former 1st prize winners at the Bordeaux, Haydn and Schubert and Modern International Chamber Music Competitions.
They will receive €15,000.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to the Balourdet String Quartet from the United States and the Quatuor Elmire from France.
Ensemble Ouranos from France was awarded 1st prize in the wind quintet category.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to the Pacific Quintet from Germany and V Coloris from Denmark.
The 2019 String Quartet Category jury comprised: Günter Pichler (Chairman), Asbjørn Nørgaard, Gunvor Sihm, Bjørg Lewis and David Geber.
The 2019 Wind Quintet Category jury comprised: Bjørn Carl Nielsen, Ole Kristian Dahl,Ulla Miilmann, Michael Hasel and Andreas Sundén.
