2nd Round Candidates Announced at Germany’s ARD International Violin Competition
The 15 candidates progressing to the 2nd round stage of the 2017 ARD International Violin Competition have today been announced
The 15 candidates progressing to the 2nd round stage of the 2017 ARD International Violin Competition in Munich, Germany have today been announced - including VC Young Artists Fedor Rudin and Sarah Christian.
The 2017 2nd round competitors are:

- Kristine Balanas (Latvia)
- Lorenz Chen (Germany)
- Clémence de Forceville (France)
- Sara Etelävuori (Finland)
- Leonard Fu (Germany)
- Anna Lee (USA/South Korea)
- Jiyoon Lee (South Korea)
- Yasuka Morizono (Japan)
- Andrea Obiso (Italy)
- Seiji Okamoto (Japan)
- Liya Petrova (Bulgaria)
- Friederike Starkloff (Germany)
- Eimi Wakui (Japan)
Open to violinists of any nationality born between 1988 and 2000, the 1st prize winner will receive €10,000 (US $11,500).
Full streaming of the Semi-Final and Final rounds will be available live and exclusively on The Violin Channel.
For the 2nd round stage, each candidate will present a full Classical and a Romantic/20th Century Violin Sonata with piano - plus a selected modern work.
The 2017 jury comprises: Mauricio Fuks (Chairperson), Pierre Amoyal, Hae-Sun Kang, Tasmin Little, Benjamin Schmid, Isabelle van Keulen and Ulf Wallin.
Previous ARD top prize winners include Christian Tetzlaff, Igor Ozim, Gerhard Hetzel, Dora Schwarzberg – and VC Artist Bomsori Kim.
