Rotosound joins the GEWA Music Family of Distribution Brands
GEWA music is now the exclusive distributor of the legendary ROTOSOUND strings in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and France
The legendary British string company Rotosound and the German distributor and manufacturer of musical instruments GEWA music announced a new partnership on January 1, 2023. GEWA music is now the exclusive distributor of the legendary ROTOSOUND strings in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and France.
"We are thrilled to be the distributor for one of the most iconic strings for musical instruments in the world. Rotosound invented the Roundwound string and has shaped the sound of Rock'n'Roll since 1958. These legendary and quality-oriented products fit 100% with the philosophy of GEWA music," said Marcel Messner, CEO of GEWA music.

Rotosound, the family-run factory based in Kent, England, is specialized in electric guitar and bass guitar strings but also produces violin, cello, bass, ukulele, and banjo strings. They have collaborated with rock legends to develop their strings, from Pink Floyd to Guns 'n Roses, and Queen to Nirvana. John Entwistle of The Who was instrumental in the development of the SWING BASS Roundwound string.
Today, Rotosound offers more than 130 different sets of strings, which will all be distributed by GEWA music.
GEWA was founded in 1925 by Georg Walther in the area in and around Adorf, Germany — a region in Saxony famous for musicians and musical instruments. From the beginning, they have focused on improving their products and listening to the needs of their customers. Today, the GEWA company has subsidiaries in all major markets and also holds substantial shares in Asian factories of musical instruments that enable a world-wide marketing of lots of GEWA products.
