27-year-old VC Young Artist Richard Lin has been awarded 1st prize at the 10th Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis
27-year-old VC Young Artist Richard Lin from the Taiwan/United States has just minutes ago been awarded 1st prize at the 10th Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis - in Indianapolis, United States.
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and the The Juilliard School, where he studied with Aaron Rosand and Lewis Kaplan, Richard is a former major prize winner at the Sendai, Michael Hill, Wieniawski, Shanghai and Joseph Joachim International Violin Competitions.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to: 17-year-old Risa Hokamura from Japan and 28-year-old VC Young Artist Luke Hsu from United States.
4th, 5th and 6th prizes were awarded to: 23-year-old Anna Lee from United States, 25-year-old VC Young Artist Ioana Cristina Goicea from Romania and 26-year-old Shannon Lee from United States/Canada.

Richard will receive USD $30,000, a Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium recital debut and international concert engagements – plus career management and the 4 year use of the 1683 ‘ex-Gingold’ Stradivarius violin.
Previous major prize winners include: Leonidas Kavakos, Judith Ingolfsson, Sergey Khachatryan, Simone Lamsma, Mihaela Martin, Ida Kavafian – and VC Artists Augustin Hadelich, Tessa Lark, Ji Young Lim, Yoojin Jang and Benjamin Beilman.
The 2018 jury comprised: Jury President and Artistic Director Jaime Laredo, Arnold Steinhardt, Pamela Frank, Cho-Liang Lin, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Dong-Suk Kang, Rodney Friend, Mihaela Martin and Kyoko Takezawa.
