Applications Open for 2015 Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition
Applications are now open for the 2015 Queen Elisabeth International Violin Competition, in Belgium – to be held in Brussels from the 4th to the 30th of May.
Widely respected as one of the most prestigious and coveted classical music prizes, previous 1st prize winners include: David Oistrakh, Leonid Kogan, Jaime Laredo, Philippe Hirschhorn, Miriam Fried, Vadim Repin, Nikolaj Znaider and VC 'Young Artists' Sergey Khachatryan, Ray Chen and Andrey Baranov.
The competition is open to violinists of any nationality, born after the 31st December 1984, who have completed their formal training and are ready to embark upon an international career.
The 1st prize winner will receive 25,000 Euro (USD$31,000), a CD recording, a number of international concert engagements and the 3 year use of the 'Huggins' Stradivarius – on generous loan from the Nippon Music Foundation.
The names of the jury members will be announced prior to the competition commencement.
