Prizewinners Announced at the Città de Cremona Violin Competition
Japanese violinist Yuki Serino won First Prize and receives €40,000
The brand-new Città de Cremona Violin Competition has recently concluded its first edition. Held in the Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi in Cremona’s Museo del Violino, the competition focused specifically on repertoire for smaller forces, in keeping with the hall's smaller size.
The results are as follows:
- First Prize: Yuki Serino (Japan) won €40,000 and a violin-shaped silver tray
- Second Prize: Shaoheng Zhong (China) won €20,000 and a gold-mounted bow gifted by Atelier Slaviero
- Third Prize: Nurie Chung (South Korea) won €10,000 and a bronze medal from the Violin Museum, made by sculptor Gianfranco Paulli
Born in Rome in 2006, Yuki Serino is presently studying in the pre-college program at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg under the guidance of Pierre Amoyal. She has also studied with Giuliano Carmignola, Georg Egger, and Miriam Dal Don. Serino received Second Prize at the 2022 Barbash Bach Competition.
As part of her Cremona prize, Serino will also receive a performance at the STRADIVARIfestival 2024.
In 2024, the competition's jury comprised Sergej Krylov (President), Pierre Amoyal, Ksenia Milas, Alessandro Quarta, Massimo Quarta, Oleksandr Semchuk, Kyoko Takezawa, Anna Tifu, and Kirill Troussov.
