Prizes Awarded at Italy’s Lipizer International Violin Competition

This week, Karen Su from the United States has been awarded 1st prize at the Lipizer International Violin Competition in Gorizia, Italy
A graduate of the Rotterdam Conservatory, where she studied with Vesna Gruppman and Igor Gruppman, Karen Su will start as an Artist in Residence at the Queen Elizabeth Music Chapel this fall.
She will receive €10,000, a number of concert engagements, and the loan of an instrument from the “Antonio Stradivari” School of Violin Making.

2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to Songha Choi from South Korea and Anne Maria Wehrmeyer from Germany.
4th prize was awarded to Nikola Pajanović from Slovenia.
The 2020 violin jury comprised: Elena Previdi, Giovanni Angeleri, Joshua Epstein, Koh Gabriel Kameda, Jean Mouillère, Črtomir Šiškovič, and Mieczysław Szlezer.
