The category prizes have just minutes ago been awarded at the 2018 International Grumiaux Competition for Young Violinists – in Brussels, Belgium.
20 year old Emma Gibout from France was awarded 1st prize in the 18 to 21 years old category.
2nd prize was awarded to 21 year old Ariel Horowitz from the United States.
Joint 3rd prize was awarded to 20 year old Kanon Kobayashi from Japan and 19 year old Victoria Wong from Australia.
15 year old Michael Germer from Denmark was awarded 1st prize in the 14 to 17 years old category.
Joint 2nd prize was awarded to 17 year old Reiko Ito from Japan and 17 year old Jaime Maceira-Naya from Spain.
Joint 3rd prize was awarded to 17 year old Erik Mayr from Austria, 16 year old Janel Najafli from Azerbaijan, 16 year old Ferdinand Pavel Slezak from Slovakia and 17 year old Miro Takahashi from Japan.
12 year old Leonard Toschev from Germany and 13 year old Pauline Van Der Rest from Belgium were awarded 1st prize in the 11 to 13 year old category.
2nd prize was awarded to Chiara Volpato Redi from Italy.
Joint 3rd prize was awarded to 12 year old Alberto Friman from Finland, 13 year old Aleksandra Khmara from Ukraine, 13 year old Mark Lewin from Germany, 13 year old Anna Seres from Switzerland and 13 year old Matija Spasojevic from Serbia.
Joint 1st prize were awarded to 10 year old EunSeo Cho from South Korea, 10 year old SungWoo Lee from South Korea and 10 year old Viktor Vasilev from Bulgaria in the 10 years and younger category.
Joint 2nd prize was awarded to Teo Gertler from Slovakia and 8 year old Mariyana Stoeva from Bulgaria.
Joint 3rd prize was awarded to 10 year old Fredrika Mikkola from Finland, 9 year old Anastasia Mishula from Germany, 10 year old Yume Tomita from Japan, 9 year old Deniz Yakin from Turkey and 10 year old Fei Yang-Sady from the United States.
The 2018 jury comprised: Igor Tkatchouk (Jury Chair), Dora Schwarzberg, Yossif Ivanov, Roman Fedchuk, Tetiana Le Menestrel, Philippe Koch, Muhammedjan Turdiev and George Tudorache.
This year's special jury prize was awarded to category C 1st prize winner, 15 year old Michael Germer from Denmark.
The prize for the 'Best Interpretation of a work by Belgian composer' was awarded to category D 2nd prize winner, 21 year old Ariel Horowitz from the United States.
