Dominik Pooski Cellist Obituary Died Cover

VERY SAD NEWS | One-Handed Cellist Dominik Połoński Has Died - Aged Just 41 [RIP]

Polish cellist Dominik Połoński has passed away from brain cancer - aged just 41

Polish cellist Dominik Połoński has passed away from brain cancer - aged just 41.

A graduate of the Lodz Academy of Music and Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia, Dominik was a former prize winner at the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Competition and the Bucharest New International Talent Competition.

In 2004, he fell ill with cancer - and as a result of a number of lifesaving surgeries subsequently lost the ability to use his left hand.

He did however continue to perform the cello - becoming one of the only known cellists to perform solely with his right hand.

Numerous composers wrote one handed cello works for him - including Dariusz Przybylski and Olga Hans.

Our condolences are with Dominik’s family, friends and colleagues.
