Poland’s Karol Lipiński International Violin Competition Names 2023 Winners
Polish violinist Karolina Podorska has won first place and a cash prize of PLN 18,000
The Karol Lipiński International Violin Competition is open to violinists of any nationality aged 17 to 33. This year’s edition was held from November 26 to December 2, 2023, in Wrocław, Poland.
As the first-prize winner, Karolina Podorska will receive PLN 18,000, plus opportunities to perform with the Józef Elsner Opole Philharmonic Orchestra in its 2024/25 season and present a solo recital at the National Forum of Music.
The second prize went to Barbara Żołnierczyk, who will receive PLN 12,000, and the chance to perform solo with the Józef Wiłkomirski Sudecka Philharmonic Orchestra in the 2024/25 concert season.
Milena Pioruńska won the third prize with PLN 8,000, and Reika Sato won the distinction award of PLN 2,000.
The four winners competed against an initial 18 candidates, who were selected after obtaining the highest scores in the preliminary rounds.
Additionally, all participants of the competition received diplomas of participation. The award ceremony and laureates concert was held at the Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music on December 2.
