Deutsche Grammophon has announced the release of Georgian-born German violinist Lisa Batiashvili’s new album: 'City Lights'.
Joined for the project by composer-arranger Nikoloz Rachveli, the disc brings together a selection of Charlie Chaplin-inspired works from diverse genres - including classical, jazz, gypsy, tango and film music.
"I’ve always wanted to play the music of Charlie Chaplin - whom I have admired ever since having watched his movies in my early childhood ..." Lisa has this week told The Violin Channel.
"I was recently in Georgia having coffee with my good friend Nikoloz Rachveli, a very talented musician and composer, when we suddenly came up with the idea of recording this album - with each track dedicated to a city dear to my heart and significant in terms of my musical career ..." she has said.
"It's been the most challenging but inspiring and motivating project of my musical life ... I am just so excited to finally be able to share it with the world."
