Opéra de Tours Announces Principal Guest Conductor
Along with its orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique Région Centre-Val de Loire, the French opera house announced Venezuelan conductor Glass Marcano as its newest guest conductor
Marcano, only age 24, will begin the role effective January, 2022.
In her new position in the Opera de Tours Orchestra, she will lead four symphonic series per season.
Last September, Marcano won the orchestra prize and a special distinction at “La Maestra Competition,” the first-ever international competition for women conductors in Paris.
She was also awarded 20,000 euros, professional concert engagements, and a two-year mentoring program with the Philharmonie de Paris and Paris Mozart Orchestra.
"I want to share with you a new stage that will undoubtedly be a great stage of learning, personal, and musical maturity," reads Marcano's Instagram post. "A special thanks to the orchestra for trusting me and giving me this opportunity."
