New Biopic of Vivaldi's Life to be Released

"Bohemian Rhapsody" editor John Ottman is set to direct the project

It has been reported that a dramatic biopic based on the life of Antonio Vivaldi is in the works. The film will be directed by editor, composer, director, and producer John Ottman, in partnership with music industry executive David Franco. The film will be written by Kevin Lund and TJ Scott.

Plans for the project have been underway for some 20 years, and previously Franco was to act as the music producer, with Ron Howard directing. However, despite many talks — including with Italy's renowned De Laurentiis family — the project failed to get off the ground.

Ottman was brought on board not long before the pandemic, and now the film has been confirmed. It will traverse themes including "forbidden love, deceit and the transformative power of music."

"After all these years, we’ve never been more confident," said TJ Scott. "John breathed new life into it. His ideas and direction for it are truly inspiring."
