Minnestota Orchestra Announces New Principal Double Bassist
The Minnesota Orchestra has today announced Kristen Bruya as their new Principal Double Bassist – the first principal appointment since the 15-month lockout ended in January 2014.
A graduate of the University of Michigan and Rice University's Shepperd School of Music, Kristen previously served as a section bassist with the Nashville Symphony and as the Assistant Principal of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
‘Kristen is a highly accomplished musician, and she will be a strong leader and an excellent addition to our bass section, our orchestra and our larger community,’ Minnesota Orchestra Music Director, Osmo Vänskä has said.
She will succeed section members Matthew Frischman and Kathryn Nettleman who have been serving as Acting Co-Principals.
