Leopold Hager Named Honorary Conductor of the Luxembourg Philharmonic

From 1981-1996, Hager was the chief conductor of the orchestra

Previously, the Austrian conductor led the Vienna Volksoper and Salzburg's Mozarteum Orchestra, along with several other orchestras in Mainz, Linz and Cologne.

He also taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna from 1992 to 2004.

According to the orchestra’s website, “Leopold Hager not only shaped the then RTL Symphony Orchestra as chief conductor from 1981 to 1996 and many years beyond, not only artistically and sustainably further developed, but also excellently prepared it for the new era as the Orchester Philharmonique du Luxembourg.”
