Larsen Strings Launches New "Aurora" Viola String Set
The Aurora Viola set completes the Aurora family of strings, following the launches of the violin and cello sets
Larsen Strings recently announced the launch of the brand new Aurora set for viola.
The new Aurora set for viola is characterized by high quality and affordability, making it a set of choice for both professional and amateur violists wishing to embrace strong performance without breaking the bank.
They have a fast response which makes them easily playable and allows for a wide range of dynamics.
The strings are available in medium tension and provide a balanced, responsive, and vibrant experience:
The A string is made out of a carbon steel core and a stainless steel flat wire.
The D string is made out of a nylon core and a stainless steel flat wire.
The G string is made out of a nylon core and a stainless steel flat wire.
The C string is made out of a nylon core, tungsten, and a pure sliver flat wire.
"I really enjoyed trying out the Aurora Viola strings," violist Hazel Veitch said. "They are very even across the range and offer a fantastic mix of direct but rich sound. Over the last couple of months, I have played on them in solo settings, chamber music, and orchestra sections. They respond well in all settings, with strong, clear, and clean tones. The overtones are rich and warm, making them incredibly versatile."
"The strings were designed with respect to the other Aurora strings qualities, while incorporating new production concepts and materials for the viola strings to ensure the best possible combination of sound properties and a long lifetime," Lasse Krogh Johannsen, string developer at Larsen Strings told The Violin Channel.
"The Aurora Viola is a more focused set compared to the other Larsen viola strings and is aimed to support the wonderful sound of a viola with a somewhat brighter and more carrying tone," he added.
