OUT NOW | Jiyoon Lee's New Album: 'Korngold & Nielsen: Violin Concertos' [LISTEN]

Orchid Classics has announced the release of Korean violinist Jiyoon Lee's new album: 'Korngold & Nielsen: Violin Concertos'

Orchid Classics has this week announced the release of Korean violinist Jiyoon Lee's new album: Korngold & Nielsen: Violin Concertos.

Recorded with Estonian conductor Kristiina Poska and the Odense Symphony Orchestra, the disc features Erich Korngold's Violin Concerto in D Major Op. 35 and Carl Nielsen's Violin Concerto Op.33.

"This amazing recording opportunity on Orchid came to me after I performed the Nielsen Concerto at the 2016 Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition, in Denmark ..." the 26-year-old Staatskapelle Berlin 1st Concertmaster has said.

"It has become one of my absolute favorite works ... and I felt the Korngold Concerto was then a perfect match in terms of balance ... almost like a fine delicate dessert as a refreshment after a heavy meal ..." she has said.

"Both of these fantastic pieces are not as well known by the public as many other concertos ... but I truly believe they deserve to be heard more often ... I hope this CD leads listeners on a new discovery of the works of Nielsen and Korngold."
