Italian luthier Giovanni Battista Guadagnini died on this day in 1786
Guadagnini is widely regarded as one of the finest string instrument craftsmen of all time, with his prized instruments once owned by some of the greatest virtuosi in history - including Eugène Ysaÿe, Henryk Wieniawski, Henri Vieuxtemps, Joseph Joachim and Arthur Grumiaux.
