GoFundMe Established to Support Pianist through Stroke Recovery
Cullan Bryant will be unable to perform for at least 3-6 months and is reliant on freelance performing income
New York pianist Cullan Bryant suffered an ischemic stroke on November 17, 2024, and is currently undergoing various surgical procedures. At present, Bryant's right arm is partially paralyzed — although his medical team is hopeful that a course of physical therapy can increase his function.
Carrah Lee Sandage has set up a GoFundMe page to provide financial support to Bryant while he recovers. In the best-case scenario, it is likely he will be unable to work for 3 to 6 months, and that is if full function eventually returns to his arm.
Bryant is a freelancer and performing is his sole source of income, so the fundraiser will provide a much-needed buffer to get him through the initial stages of his recovery.

One of New York City's sought-after collaborative pianists, Bryant first began learning the piano when he was two, and gave his first public recital at age six. He studied with Robert Goldsand and Artur Balsam, and won prizes at the Leschetizky International Competition, National Arts Club of New York, Memphis Beethoven Competition, and Miami Arts Competition — as well as receiving a certificate of outstanding citizenship from Arkansas Governor Frank White.
He has been the recital partner of Midori, Mikhail Kopelman, Ju-Young Baek, Emanuel Borok, Colin Jacobsen, Misha Keylin, Oleh Krysa, Peter Rejto, Paul Tobias, members of the Amati, American, Arcata and Borromeo Quartets, and members of the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke's, New York City Ballet Orchestra, Boston and the Detroit Symphony Orchestras.
"Thank you for all of your love," wrote Carrah Lee Sandage in response to support for the fundraiser. "Cullan knows you are all thinking about him and it means so much."
