It has been announced today that San Francisco Symphony Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas will undergo heart surgery in coming weeks to address a number of ongoing cardiac issues.
The 74-year-old conductor will withdraw from all season-ending performances in San Francisco - as well as all summer performances with the London Symphony.
He has indicated today he is hoping to return to his schedule for the San Francisco Symphony's opening concert on the 4th of September this year.
We wish Maestro Tilson Thomas a speedy recovery.
