Conductor Hannu Lintu To Step Down from Finnish Radio Symphony in 2021

Conductor Hannu Lintu will step down as Chief Conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony - effective from the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season

It has been announced today that conductor Hannu Lintu will step down as Chief Conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, in Helsinki - effective from the conclusion of the 2020-2021 season.

“My years with the Finnish Radio Symphony have been musically rewarding … and we have learned to understand each other excellently …” the 51-year-old Finnish-born conductor has told local media.

“Quite simply, I am now mid-career and would like to take the opportunity to learn new things … I am not currently in a position to shed any more light on my decision, but I would obviously not make such steps if I had no plans,” he has said.

Maestro Lintu has lead the orchestra since 2010.
