Conductor Fabio Luisi Tests Positive for COVID-19
1 MIN READ
Due to the mandatory quarantine, the Italian conductor can no longer lead Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw during the 2020 Christmas Matinee
A GRAMMY-award winner, Luisi is General Music Director of the Zurich Opera, Music Director designated of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor for the Danish National Symphony.
The concert on December 25th will instead be led by the young Finnish conductor Klaus Mäkelä in a program of Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony and Debussy’s “La mer.”
"The Concertgebouworkest is grateful that Klaus Mäkelä has agreed to take over the Christmas Matinee at such short notice and is delighted to see him again so soon after his Concertgebouworkest debut," the orchestra's website reads.
We wish Maestro Luisi a fast recovery.
