15 year old violinist Charlotte Marckx has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Stulberg International String Competition
15-year-old violinist Charlotte Marckx from the United States has been awarded 1st prize at the 2018 Stulberg International String Competition – at the Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
A student of Simon James in Seattle, Charlotte is a former major prize winner at the MTNA National String Competition and the Johansen International Competition for Young String Players.
2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to 15-year-old cellist La Li and 17-year-old violinist Maya Anjali Buchanan.

Charlotte will receive US $6,000 - plus a number of domestic concerto performance opportunities.
She was also awarded the 2018 prize for the ‘best performance of a work by J.S. Bach’ in the Semi-Final round.

Open to violinists, violists, cellists and bassists of any nationality aged 19 or under, former prize winners include Joshua Bell, Soovin Kim, Rachel Barton Pine and Jennifer Koh – and VC Artists Zeyu Victor Li, Zlatomir Fung, Matthew Lipman and Benjamin Beilman.
The 2018 jury comprised: Aaron Dworkin, Anthony Ross and Scott St John.
