Romanian-born cellist and pedagogue Nicolae Sarpe has passed away - aged 81

Romanian-born cellist and pedagogue Nicolae Sarpe has passed away - aged 81.

Throughout his 6 decade career, he served as principal cellist with the George Enescu Philharmonic, Cape Town Philharmonic, Orquesta Sinfónica de Venezuela and the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia - and was a founding faculty member of the Orvieto Festival of Strings, in Italy.

Our condolences are with Mr Sarpe's family, friends, colleagues and students.
