British violinist Albert Sammons died on this day in 1957 – aged 71
British violinist Albert Sammons died on this day in 1957 – aged 71.
Largely self taught, Mr Sammons is remembered in history for his close association with Elgar's Violin Concerto – a work he championed and performed more than 100 times.
He passed away after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
